Grandma’s Secret Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe (Updated)

Making chocolate chip cookies with my grandma is one of my favorite things to do. One of the simplest, yet more delicious desserts to exit., these cookies are super delicious and also easy to make! The cookie dough itself is also perfect for any other mix-ins such as Oreos, Mnm’s, sprinkles, etc.

How to Store

  • I recommend storing cookie dough can be stores in the freezer for no longer than 2-4 months
  • After baking, cookies should be stored in a closed container

Recipe:

  • 1 stick unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp milk of choice (if needed, see baking directions below)
  • 1/4-1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/4 tsp seasalt 

How to bake:

  1. First, mix your butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together in a bowl
  2. Add in the egg and vanilla extract
  3. In a separate bowl combine your flour and baking soda
  4. Then, add your flour mixture to the wet ingredients and knead it in until your dough forms
  5. If the cooked dough is dry, add in 1/2 tsp of milk
  6. Add the chocolate chips
  7. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
  8. Roll your cookie dough into balls about 1.5-2 inches in diameter. Flatten them out slightly when you put them on the baking sheet and sprinkle sea salt over each one before baking
  9. Let the cookie dough balls sit in the fridge for about 30 minutes before baking them at 350 degrees for 14-15 minutes. They should look slightly raw when they come out but they will continue baking through as they cool!
